Some information from Brathay Exploration Group

Please pass on this exciting information to anyone you think would be interested in this and other expeditions run by Brathay Exploration Group. There are many ways to raise the funds required; including personal sponsorship and grants for individuals in certain regions in Cumbria.

  • Are you up for a challenge?
  • Are you interested in learning about new cultures first hand and sharing experiences with a small group?

Brathay Exploration Group is a registered charity originally founded in 1947 and provides high quality worldwide expeditions for 15 – 25 year olds.

Expeditions are run by committed and experienced volunteer leaders from various backgrounds, and supported by our headquarters near Ambleside. Group size is deliberately kept small to ensure a high quality experience and all of the group are immersed in the “real” country by learning first hand about the culture utilising the close links with locals that have been established over many years.

Cumbria Young Farmers

Press Release

Contestants in the County Final of Cumbria Young Farmers’ Clubs Club Promotion Competition had to produce a poster, leaflet and display boards promoting their Club and then give a presentation to judges, Penny Williamson and Frank Chester

The presentation was to be geared towards a group of potential members and the 5 teams who had won through to the County Final had many ingenious ways of making this interesting. So the audience were entertained with Longtown’s “Blockbusters” game, Crook’s “Drawasarus”, Raughton Head’s “Newsround” and Greysouthen’s “Countdown”. All teams highlighted the training elements of being in Young Farmers, the competitions, the social events, charity fund-raising and the democratic system in the Clubs.

Raughton Head’s team of Richard Potts, Lucy Cowen, Lisa Bowe and Tom Ebbatson won the competition with Rob Thacker, Bob Lawrence, Lisa Mason and Sam Wilkinson of Kent Estuary YFC coming 2nd and Crook YFC 3rd.

Raughton Head and Kent Estuary will compete against Lancashire, Northumberland, Durham, East Riding and Yorkshire at the Northern Area Finals of the competition at Pontin’s, Blackpool on Saturday 29th March. Please click HERE for Photo
